Relief of the River Adjaristskali Basin and the Sustainable Development of the Region

The territory of the river Adjaristskali basin belongs to that region of Georgia, where the unprecedented formation-activation of the natural-anthropogenic processes and the social-economic problems caused by them reached an irrevocable line of the ecological crises. Here is developed a variety of dangerous geological processes: landslides, erosion, mudflows, snow avalanches and sea embankments’ erosion annually cause the biggest material damage to the region's population, economic-engineering facilities, and not infrequently by the human losses. Under the developed extreme conditions, the damages caused by them are defined as a million GEL. Natural conditions and their characteristics determines a lot for our country. Among them is remarkable the role of the relief in the development of tourism. Tourism is the multilateral field, so it is studying by the different aspects, different approaches to any given field of interest. Because the development of tourism resources is one of the preconditions, there will not be lack of interest to talk about what was the role of the relief in their formation and existence. Because of the land using is extremely limited in the region, the mastering of territories are going on the rather engineering-geodynamical risky area, which will increases the intense activation of dangerous geological processes and a significant reduction of the useful agricultural land. It is estimated that in the last three decades, the area of the arable land is decreased by the 3 times.
