Ecological Problems in Georgia Caused by Industries.

Intensive extraction of useful minerals contaminates environment such that in many cases food products produced on the soils existing around it, is very harmful for human health. The most dangerous from pollutants are: heavy metals and radionuclide. Their high concentration in human body causes pathological changes. The most important from existing deposits in Georgia is Kazreti ore deposit in Bolnisi Region, on right bench of river Mashavera. Copper-containing sulfide ore deposit, which is quarried by open-pit mining method, causes intensive pollution of environment with toxic metals. Products produced on contaminated soils harms human health, which means that this soil is practically useless for agriculture. Hence, it’s very important to create such biotechnology, which will be used to produce on polluted soils in Georgia, products that are ecologically clean and acceptable for international market.
