Landscape planning of Mtskheta

On the basis of recommendation given by UNESCO optimization of management of monument Mtskheta being under risk together with other issues is related to the following: optimization with international conventions (this is especially related to the Convention of Europe about Landscapes), involvement of local topics, dialogue of parties interested and specialists. Such attitude is related to mainly basic principles of European methodology used for landscape planning which in its turn conditions the stability of work. UNESCO encourages Georgia to submit the following together with other various information (according to the comments made in June 16-27 2013): clearly unstable (sensitive) areas of cultural landscape, create such general plan for conservation which will foresee the environment of specific landscape, determine the functional areas related to the monument, establish and weaken the negative impact on river’s landscape (embankment). The aim of the work is to reveal those main characteristics of cultural landscape of Mtskheta which assist and show the special general mankind values of monuments of World inheritance of Mtskheta and determine the terms necessary for protecting, rehabilitating and using the landscape. The mentioned attitude means entirely the historical-cultural resource and not its separate components. Main objectives of the work: 1. Evaluation of special general mankind purpose of landscape environment of monuments of World Inheritance of Mtskheta. 2. Determination of facilitating and improving measures in consideration of requirements of methodology for landscape planning.
