Synthesis and reasearch of Spirochromenes on the basis of indolo[4,5-e)indoles

The subject of study of this bachelor’s thesis is synthesis of Spyro-compounds on the basis of 2,9-dimethilenindo[4,5-e]indoles, which have photochromic properties. For this purpose, we used the above mentioned compound and different salycilaldehydes: o-vanillin, 5-nitro-o-vanillin, 3-chlorine-5-nitrosalicylaldehyde. We obtained spyro-compounds supposedely with bis-structure: bis-(8-methoxy-2H-chromene-2-spyro)-1’,1’,3’,8’,10’,10’-hexamethylindolino[4,5-e]indoline, bis-(6-nitro-8-methoxy -2H-chromene-2-spyro)-1’,1’,3’,8’,10’,10’-hexamethylindolino[4,5-e]indoline, bis-(8-chlorine-8-nitro-2H-chromene-2-spyro)-1’,1’,3’,8’,10’,10’-hexamethylindolino[4,5-e]indoline. We studied UV spectra of newly prepared solution and with mercury lamp irridiated solution of the latter compound dissolved in chloroform. After irradtion the hypsochromic shift of the maximum absorption took place, which proves photochromic properties of the above mentioned compound.
